Civil engineering contractor Power Group merged with AcuGroup

One of South Africa’s largest civil engineering contractors, Power Group, has merged with property developer, the AcuGroup of companies, effective from January 1, 2009.

The merged entity would continue business as usual, and would operate as the Power Group. The companies stated that the merger cemented a working relationship of over three years, between the two organisations.

Power Group chairperson Graham Power, and AcuGroup CEO Leon van der Vyver noted that the merger came about as the natural progression of a sound relationship and a shared vision for the future.

To this end, they foresaw a seamless amalgamation of the ownership and operational structures of the two groups into a single international group of companies, with property development and the various disciplines of construction as its core business focus.

The Power Group is one of South Africa’s largest privately owned civil engineering contractors in the field of township infrastructure, and specialised in earthworks, bulk services, road and highway construction, pipelines, concrete works and township infrastructure.

The AcuGroup of companies is known for property developments and vertical construction. The company has completed several residential and other developments throughout South Africa.
