The Power Group Charitable Fund The Fund was started in 2000, inspired by the Bible verse of Proverbs 3:9-10, “Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing and your vats will brim over with new wine.” Each company within the Group donates 10% of its profits to the Charitable Fund. This is in turn used to support five main charitable organizations and other ad hoc sponsorship proposals that are received on a regular basis. HIV/AIDS Part of Power’s way of caring for their people is an established and results-oriented HIV/Aids programme, started in February 2002. The programme has three aims: Firstly, everyone should know his or her status; secondly, new infections must be avoided; and lastly, any person who tests positive should receive the needed treatment. The Group has a comprehensive response to HIV/AIDS, ranging from prevention management programmes, including employee awareness campaigns, aimed at education and behaviour modification to provision of assistance and treatment to those who are affected and ongoing health research. Employee Wellness In line with its culture of caring, the Power Group has implemented an Employee Wellness programme, providing employees and their families with assistance when they require help with the prevention, identification and treatment of psychological or social problems. Go for Gold The Group is also involved with the industry programme, which enables young people from our disadvantaged communities to achieve their goals while serving the needs of the industry and our country.
